Pitch artwork by Ralph 'banksie' AlexanderPhotographically it has been a very busy weekend.  Having been privileged to photograph the Cardinals throughout the regular season it was an honour to sit on the side-lines and shoot the first playoff game in Suffolk for more than ten years.

What made it even sweeter was winning, now we are off to Glasgow next weekend to take on East Kilbride Pirates in the semi-finals.

Happy Birthday IggyIt is never a good idea to have a birthday during the football season nor to stand next to a large green bucket.  Happy Birthday Iggy!

Meanwhile on the pitch the Cardinals ran out the regular season with 8 and 2 following their 27 - 0 win over Kent Exiles at Northgate.   Got some TD shots but we need to work on the smile to camera for next season...

Playoffs Here We Come!
Sunday, 08 August 2010 20:11

The Cardinals 17 - 6 victory over Peterborough Saxons on Sunday set them up for a playoff.   There is still one more regular season game to go before we can start dreaming... OK, us photographers can dream, the players need to stick with training!

Did Sunday's game enter the stats as the most photographed game for Ipswich?   There were enough of us about ensuring that the old Canon vs. Nikon battle continued!

Colchester Gladiators entertained the Cardinals in their new home at Harwich & Parkston Football Club on Sunday.   It seemed to take a long time for anyone to get points on the scoreboard but the music was good.

Looking forward to some actions shots at the last two home games coming up at Northgate - can we really be that near the end of the season?

The Windy City
Sunday, 04 July 2010 22:10

Peterborough on Independence Day was windy, so much so that the bar-b-q nearly blew away.

The Cardinals made heavy work of the first three quarters but came good in the fourth, clocking up the club's 5,000th point and bringing home yet another win.

This set of images is notable for a lot of pre and post match portraits and two very sweet touchdowns.

Who's the Daddy?
Sunday, 20 June 2010 20:54

It was Father's Day when the Gladiators came to visit from England's oldest Roman town, Colchester.

Afterwards I realised that my chance remark to my son about scoring a touch down for his old man on Father's day might be putting the lad under pressure - eh, no!   Early in the first quarter he obliged, right in front of the camera.
